Since ancient times, green tea has been popular in Asian cultures like China and Japan. It is their beverage of choice because of its medicinal benefits. Its popularity has surged in the western hemisphere largely because of its proven ability to treat ailments such as headaches and depression. Dentist Burbank supports the scientific research regarding green tea and its health benefits. It has proven effective in fighting cancer, lowering high cholesterol levels, dealing with cardiovascular problems, ensuring immune infection, and preventing arthritis, among others. What makes green tea special is that it is rich in catechin polyphenols (epigallocathechin gallate or EGCG), which is an effective antioxidant. Green tea is known to prevent cancer and weight loss. It also inhibits abnormal formation of blood clots.

Dental Burbank believes that the study published by the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) about green tea consumption should be taken seriously. Given the close links between dental health and overall health, it has been found that green tea also helps promote healthy teeth and gums by fighting periodontal diseases. According to Dentists Burbank, there are lots of information regarding the study done before by Japanese researchers when they analyzed 940 men focusing on their periodontal health. They found out that people who drank green tea regularly obtain good periodontal health.

There were three indicators examined regarding periodontal diseases. When green tea was consumed during the study, it was discovered that the periodontal pocket depth, attachment loss of gum tissue and bleeding on probing of the gum tissues (three indicators) decreased its potential on having periodontal disease. According to Cosmetic Irvine, the research has shown that the catechin, which is an antioxidant in green tea, helps promote good periodontal health. Catechin interferes in the body’s inflammatory response to periodontal bacteria. Because of this type of antioxidant, there is less chance of getting chronic inflammatory disease (periodontal disease) that affects gums and bones that support the teeth. DDS Irvine agreed with what Dr. David Cochran, DDS, PhD, President of the AAP and Chair of the Department of Periodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, when he said: “That is why it is so important to find simple ways to boost periodontal health, such as regularly drinking green tea – something already known to possess certain health-related benefits.”

Green tea helps promote periodontal health and prevents diseases closely associated with in periodontal diseases. This is because green tea interferes with our body’s response to periodontal bacteria. There are, however, concerns regarding the harmful effects of drinking green tea because it also has caffeine. Although it contains caffeine, which sometimes lead to insomnia (the only negative side effect reported), the caffeine content in tea is relatively small. Coffee, on the other hand, has more caffeine in its content compared to tea. Tea, therefore, is safe to drink. This is a beverage that is easy to find. It gives a lot of health benefits not only to our overall health but also to our dental health.

Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world. Perhaps the most commonly discussed respiratory disease after the common cold. The word asthma is derived from a Greek work meaning ‘breathlessness or panting’ both of which accurately describe an attack of asthma.

Asthma diseases affecting more than 300 million people worldwide. It is characterised by recurrent breathing problems and symptoms such as breathlessness, wheezing, chest tightness, and coughing. Asthma symptoms vary over time, and also from individual to individual.

World Health Day – 2009

World Health Day – 2009

Following an emergency or disaster, people rely on hospitals and health facilities to respond, swiftly and efficiently, as the lifeline for survival and the backbone of support. The tragedy is compounded when a hospital collapses or its functions disrupted. The theme of 2009 “Save lives; make hospitals safe in emergencies” draws attention to the importance of investing in well-built health infrastructure that is able to withstand disaster and remain operational to help people in immediate need. This years World Health Day will be launched in Beijing as China recovers from a massive earthquake which last year killed more than 87,000 people and destroyed or damaged over 11,000 hospitals and clinics.

Natural calamities like cyclones, earthquakes, tsunamis and famine, etc. and internal emergencies like wars, disease outbreaks, radiological incidents and chemical spills – are all rising. Though only 11% of the people exposed to natural hazards live in developing countries, they account for more than 53% of global deaths due to such cause suggesting that there is a great potential to reduce human death toll in these regions.

It is important to keep hospitals and health facilities safe, as they are more than just buildings. They save lives and protect health round-the-clock and safeguard social stability in times of crises. They are vital asset at the heart of a community, the place where often life starts and ends.

WHO is advocating a series of best practices that can be implemented, in any resource setting, to make hospitals safe during emergencies. Apart from safe siting and resilient construction, good planning and carrying out emergency exercises in advance can help maintain critical functions. Proven measures range from early warning systems to a simple hospital safety assessment, from protecting equipment and supplies to preparing staff to manage mass casualties and infection control measures.

Essentials for making health facilities safer

  • Develop and implement national policies and programmes to make health facilities safe in emergencies.
  • Select a safe site for the health facility.
  • Design and construct safe health facilities.
  • Assess the safety of existing health facilities.
  • Protect health workers, equipment, medicines and supplies.
  • Ensure that health facilities receive essential services.
  • Develop partnerships between health facilities and the community.
  • Develop an emergency risk management programme for individual health facilities.

Countries need to develop an emergency response plan for each health facility, test and update response plans with drills and exercises, train the health workers to respond to emergencies and evaluate and learn lessons from past emergencies and disasters.

As the Director General of WHO, Dr Margaret Chang says, “We must never forget: hospitals and health facilities represent a significant investment. Keeping them safe in emergencies protects that investment, while also protecting the health and safety of people.”

The word Avinashi means that which is indestructible. It is a town situated near Tirupur and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The town is famous for the Shiva temple constructed by Sundarapandiya is closely associated with the great Saiva saint Sundaramoorthy Nayanar.

Geography

Avinashi is located on the arterial road connecting the texcities of Tirupur and Coimbatore.Avinashi was a part of Coimbatore district and when tirupur was carved as a new district from Coimbatore, Avinashi was added to the new district(Feb 2009). It is a major hault place for the vehicles bounding to Chennai and Cochin from the western Tamil Nadu.Avinashi is a Taluk headquarter and the Headquarter for Avinashi Panchayat union.

Avinashi connects Coimbatore with Erode, Salem, Bangalore, Chennai, Vellore, Cuddalore, Puducherry and Tirupathy. If Palladam is the gateway for Coimbatore from the Southern Tamil Nadu, Avinashi is the gateway for Coimbatore from the Northern parts of Tamil Nadu

History

This is one of the seven Shivastalams in Kongu Nadu; however this temple is better known as Karunaiyaaththaal temple. Avinashi is also referred to in inscriptions as Dakshina Varanasi, Tiruppukkozhiyur etc. Tirumular’s Tirumantiram, Arunagirinathar’s Tiruppugazh & Manikkavacakar’s Tiruvacakam refer to this shrine. This temple is regarded as the first of the seven Tevara Stalams in the Kongu Region of Tamil Nadu.

Inscriptions here reveal that the Cholas, Pandyas and the Hoysalas have made extensive endowments to the temples Sundaramoorthy Nayanar on his way to meet Cheramaan Peruman, nayanar happened to visit Avinashi. As he was passing through one of the streets, he heard two discordant notes coming from opposite houses, one echoing joy and another sorrow. The puzzled saint understood the cause for the strange phenomenon.

Two boys of the same age went to bathe in a tank from which emerged a crocodile and devoured one of them. There was being celebrated the “Upanayanam” (Thread ceremony) of the surviving boy, now 8 years old. Hence there was joy and mirth in the house. While the other people were unable to bear their sorrow.

Had their boy been alive, they too would be celebrating his “Upanayanam”. Intensely moved by this, Sundaramoorthy Nayanar poured out of soulful song, praying to Lord shiva to resurrect the dead child. His prayer was answered .The empty tank started surging with water from which emerged the crocodile and ejected the child as a fully grown boy of eight years

Architecture

Ambal’s sanctum is to the right of Avinasiappar’s sanctum, unlike that in most temples. The Kasi Gangai Theertham—in the form of a well is considered to be of significance. The Kaalabhairavar shrine in this temple is held in reverence. Kaala Bhairavar is worshipped here with offerings of Vadai Maalai.

This temple with two prakarams is adorned with the Navaranga Mandapam in the inner prakaram. The mandapam in front of Ambal’s sanctum has interesting sculptural work. The large nandi here, and the carved image of a scorpion in the Ambal sanctum are of significance here. Several other carvings here deserve attention. Avinashiappar temple is a protected monument under the Archeological survey of India.

The temple car festival

The car festival is the most exciting of the festivals in this temple. This temple’s car is second biggest in Southindia and is noted for its fine wooden carvings. Since the old car was destroyed by fire in 90’s, it has been rebuilt. The annual Bhrammotsavam is celebrated in the month of Chittirai. Apart from Temple car festival, 63r (Arubathi moovar Ula) is one of the notable festival in this temple. The festival chariot here is said to be on par with Tiruvarur.first it was happen to be 10 days festival..now it becomes 1 day festival …

Industries

There are many textile mills located in and around this town. These textile mills comprise spinning and weaving mills that work closing with various apparel manufacturing companies in Coimbatore and Tirupur. There are also many engineering industries. Agriculture is the major occupation of many of the people in and around this town.
